TYLDLESLEY CREATIVE WRITERS – WEBSITE UPDATE:
HOME PAGE: NOTICE to all our members,
As you are probably aware, Tyldesley Library is closed due to Covid-19. Our group meetings are therefore cancelled until further notice. Please keep yourselves safe and well.
We have an email thread for you to keep in contact with members and share your writing online and on this website. This is through Mary’s email address: [email protected]. You may also phone Mary on 07905729819.
Please do keep in touch and let us know how you are while we are isolating and complying with government rules.
If you do need help with anything at all, please refer to the email below that I received from Age UK who have so kindly offered their services to us:
Dear all,
Please find below a list of services which Age UK Wigan Borough are currently offering to older people who are not able to go out:
· ‘Checking in’ calls – if someone feels they would like someone to phone them to check they are ok we can do this on a daily, weekly or fortnightly basis.
· Emergency shopping – if someone can’t get out to get shopping, then we can do some for them and drop it off.
· Medication collections – again, if someone can’t get out to collect their medication, we can do this for them and drop it off.
Excluding the cost of shopping, there are no charges for these services.
If anyone you know needs one of these services, please ask them to phone the main number on 01942 615880.
Thank you and kind regards,
Liz

Our Logo
is a painting of our local Tyldesley library. The artist, Ena Cunliffe has been a member of our group since it was established over ten years ago. Ena was the group’s treasurer for a many years. The original painting was presented by Ena, on behalf of the group, to the library on the occasion of the Library’s Centenary Celebrations.
In 2010, to commemorate the Centenary of the 1910 Pretoria Pit disaster, Tyldesley Creative Writers and Astley and Tyldesley Miner’s Welfare Institute donated a plaque in memory of the lost lives of 344 men and boys. This plaque is located on the wall facing the door, in the foyer of the library.
TCW has produced two anthologies, the title of our first one is The Magic of Words and more recently our second – Reflections on The Great War.
The group is a member of NAWG (National Association of Writing Groups)
If you can’t get to our group meetings, why not become a ‘distant member’ and email your writing to us – we would love to hear your poems or stories inspired by our suggested topics – (see our ‘What’s On’ page) and send them to [email protected]
